The need to Coach

Yet another one leaving the company. This time someone close to my heart. Brilliant finance manager with a heart of gold and mind you, that hardly comes together in a package.

Attrition is required in a company, especially one that promotes from within. However, when attrition rate increases faster than the rate of producing talents to perform the job- issue arises. The organization will be largely staffed with young, passionate, career driven leaders, that may not have the necessary skill to fill the shoes, and even if they did- their interest may not be in developing the next batch of people succeeding them. They will have limited energy, given that they are inexperienced, they will be focusing on results which will ultimately be the key driver for them to bring their careers to greater heights. Ultimately, if the company is unable to meet their demands on their career or pay, they simply opt out and with the skills that they have acquired; they can easily get a job in another great company. And with that – a void is left behind in the organization.

The key to resolve this is coaching. The most over-used and under-executed word in the office. Ensure that this is systematically measured as a performance indicator and the gap can be closed.

It’s better to burn out than to fade away. Coaching will be your legacy.

The Stupidity continues

Hi everyone,

I don't know whether you realised but we are behind schedule. So far, what is certain is the food and the mob briefing. We had a few reponses so far but insufficient to make a decision. If we decide to go for activities, I think that we must meet to discuss the planning and coordination not to mention prizes. If we want a talk, who's gonna be the speaker? If we just want a dinner cum conversation, we may not need to meet. I will be away from 26th Nov to 1st Dec for a conference in HK, so if we meet, it has to be soon.Please send in your responses, opinions, suggestions etc by 2359 11th Sunday. H, please help to do the collation and make the final decision.
